The Best Red Carpet Looks From the 90th Academy Awards | Oscars 2018

Whether you’re happy with the results of the Oscars or not, one thing we can all agree on is that the red carpet looks this year were absolutely stunning. Notably, our Hollywood actresses dropped the Time’s Up all-black dress code and embraced powder pink hues, ruby reds and all-white ensembles. From Chanel Haute Couture to plush Gucci suits, here’s our favorite red carpet looks from the 90th Academy Awards…

Ivory & Embellishments

Nominated for Best Actress for a film that she co-produced, I, Tonya actress Margot Robbie certainly looked the part, stepping out in a gorgeous Chanel Haute Couture gown. Robbie wore one of our favorite red carpet looks: with an ivory corseted bodice, draped off-the-shoulder straps and an elegant maxi skirt, her look was sophisticated and distinctly feminine.

The beaded straps and tiny embellished bag delicately accessorized her outfit, keeping it minimalistic, yet opulent. Sadly, Robbie didn’t win her Oscar, but she kept the title of one of the best-dressed actresses to step out onto the red carpet.

Velvet Jacket & Burgundy Mules

One of the best-dressed men from last night’s celebrations, without a doubt, has to be musician and actor Donald Glover. Although this look didn’t make it to the red carpet, Glover made an appearance at Vanity Fair’s Oscars after party in a handsome Gucci suit. His ensemble consisted of a jet black, quilted velvet blazer, floppy over-sized bow tie and contrasting dark gray pants.

Adding a unique twist to his sartorial style, Glover wore mule-esque shoes with a burgundy sheen. The Gucci tux was, quite simply, one of the best we saw all night. He may not have been nominated for an Oscar, but his after party outfit was quite Oscar-worthy.

Red, Pink & Silky Suiting

If one thing’s for certain, it’s that Emma Stone rarely disappoints us with her red carpet looks. For last night’s celebrations, Emma opted to forgo the traditional, decadent Academy Awards ballgown in favor of a silk suit by Louis Vuitton. Embracing masculine tailoring at its finest, Emma looked every inch the sophisticate in a plunging, hot-pink-on-ruby-red blazer ensemble, coupled with inky black silk pants and pointed heels.

Cinched in at the waist with a silky, hot pink bow, Emma’s Oscars outfit fused effortless elegance and managed to preserve a feminine silhouette. Emma wore her copper-hued hair down and sleek, echoing her outfit choice.

All-White Tux & Contrasting Boots

The Best Actor nominee for Call Me By Your Name dazzled in a fitted white Berluti suit tuxedo, complete with a white bow tie. Lighting up the awards by opting for an ivory suit instead of a black tux, Timothée Chalamet proved himself to be a fashion leader rather than a follower. On social media, he’s been hailed “the darling of the 90th Academy Awards” – we couldn’t agree more.

Fashion critics have also praised the 22-year-old’s choice of footwear. Pairing patent black boots with his all-white tux, Chalamet took color contrasting to the max. The effect was charming: Chalamet executed a youthful, fashion-forward look, whilst remaining Oscars appropriate.

Millennial Pink & Pointed Stilettos

Of course we didn’t forget Saoirse Ronan’s stunning, millennial-pink Calvin Klein gown. Complete with origami bow-detailing and a striking, floor-length train, Saoirse looked absolutely beautiful in her strapless gown.

It’s somewhat reminiscent of Gwyneth Paltrow’s powder pink 1999 Oscars gown, leaving reviewers convinced that Saoirse is channeling the Shakespeare in Love star. Paltrow wore Ralph Lauren to the 71st Academy Awards and received open admiration for her ensemble. Saoirse’s gorgeous gown differs in style, yet has received similar praise to Paltrow’s pink Ralph Lauren dress. Personally, it’s one of our favorite red carpet looks of the night: demure yet powerfully feminine, the Calvin Klein gown embodies Saoirse’s transition from a young starlet in Atonement to successful, Hollywood actress.
