Masculine Tailoring

It’s All About…Masculine Tailoring

It’s official. Masculine tailoring is back on trend for Fall 2017 and, here at Maxwell Scott, we’re pretty happy about it: elegant, powerful silhouettes are the very essence of our Women’s collection.

Masculine Tailoring

The masculine tailoring trend goes hand in hand with our luxury leather handbags. Both ooze timeless style, class and unwavering authority. Fall 2017 sees masculine collections influenced by the past, borrowing heavily from the Nineties’ power suit. Cue boxy shapes, wide-leg pants and proportion play.

Ready-to-wear collections from Louis Vuitton and Chloé emphasize the flexibility of of the trend. The former favours rigid jackets – cinched at the waist – and sharply cropped trousers, whilst the Chloé collection showcases low-rise, slouchy pants and loose tailoring.

Statement Fabrics

Statement fabrics also dominated the catwalk, with the check blazer a clear front-runner for this season.

Picture heritage tweed, dense wool and autumnal coloured checks in conjunction with distorted proportions and exaggerated shoulders. The Calvin Klein collection in particular strongly focuses on tweed and power dressing, complete with a contemporary twist.

Political Agenda

Boyish fits and power suits have been a popular trend over the years in women’s fashion. The rebirth of the masculine tailoring trend this season is undoubtedly a nod to current political issues and new-wave feminism, flipping the finger to old patriarchal structures. It’s about rebellion. Becoming revolutionaries. Making a political statement against anti-woman views.

Timeless Style

It comes as no surprise that masculine tailoring has been revived for Fall 2017. Like the craftsmanship of Maxwell Scott products, masculine tailoring is a ‘trend’ that truly stands the test of time.

With a focus on fine quality, executive style and versatile cuts, masculine tailoring is the ideal trend for the professional woman or the chic, young city-goer – and we don’t expect to see it leave anytime soon.

Styling for the Office:

Masculine tailoring is always a powerful choice for officewear, whether you’re a CEO or Creative Director.

A herringbone blazer and matching Gauvian trousers will keep you comfortable and stylish, exuding status. Match with a high-neck, balloon-sleeved white blouse for a touch of opulence and some statement block-heel loafers.
