Forget Winter – It’s All About The Spring Royal Wedding!

There’s so much to love about the English royals: the quintessential British charm, the unforgettable ‘people’s princess’, the charming public appearances. As of today, there’s another reason to celebrate them – it’s just been announced that Prince Harry has proposed to American actress Meghan Markle. And like most people, we just love a royal wedding…

If you’re not too clued-up on the latest addition to the Royal Family, let us give you a rundown on Prince Harry’s new fiance. Born Rachel Meghan Markle to Doria Radlan and Thomas W. Markle in California, Meghan grew up in the Hollywood area of Los Angeles. She later attended a private Catholic school and graduated from Northwestern University in 2003.

In her most recent years, she’s established herself as a successful model, actress and humanitarian. She’s best known for her portrayal of Rachel Zane in courtroom drama Suits, a popular series that she will step down from ahead of her marriage to Prince Harry. The two were introduced by friends in the summer of 2016 and have been openly dating since November of last year.

The union of Meghan and Prince Harry has been approved by the Queen and Prince Charles, who have expressed their delight at the new royal engagement. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have also spoke joyfully of the recent news, proclaiming that they are ‘very excited’ for Harry and Meghan. The royal wedding will take place in the spring of next year and the couple are set to live in Nottingham Cottage at Kensington Palace.

Although the royal blessing comes with the weight of royal expectations, Meghan is no stranger to the limelight. In a recent Vanity Fair article, she reveals her stance on the pubic’s response to their relationship:

“We’re a couple. We’re in love. I’m sure there will be a time when we have to come forward and present ourselves and have stories to tell, but I hope what people will understand is that this is our time.”

Although it is not yet known where they’ll marry, we can officially get excited about a spring wedding. A season that marks new beginnings, flowers in bloom and the world springing to life after winter, it couldn’t be more fitting. Meghan and Harry are not expected to marry in the grandeur of Westminster Abbey as William and Kate did, but to choose a setting such as St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.

As for how Harry popped the question, we are still in the dark. It’s currently unknown whether Prince Harry proposed with Princess Diana’s jewelry, but this is expected to be revealed following their official engagement appearance on Monday afternoon. Personally, we can’t wait for another royal wedding – and luckily, we don’t have that long to wait!
