Leather Care

Here at Maxwell Scott, we only use full-grain, vegetable-tanned leather. This particular type of leather is renowned for being easier to care for and much more durable than others.

Our Leather

Our leather products require relatively little care. Any scratches or marks can be buffed or polished out easily, meaning that there’s no need for regular cleaning.

Clean Your Leather   You don’t need any special products to keep your leather looking good. Simply dip a clean cloth in an easy soap and water solution and gently polish the surface of your bag.

Grease Stains   Don’t worry about stains to the exterior of your bag or accessory – as we use the finest quality leather, grease stains can be rubbed or polished out with ease, leaving your Maxwell Scott product looking as perfect as the day it arrived.

Condition Your Leather   Skidmore’s leather cream is our favourite leather care product by far. You won’t need much and it will ensure that the exterior of your Maxwell Scott product keeps its fine quality.

Avoid Chemicals   Please don’t use chemical products to clean your bag. Chemical cleaners and conditioners can damage the surface of the leather, doing more harm than good.

When it Rains   You should avoid getting your Maxwell Scott bag wet, but if you get caught in the rain there’s no need to panic. Gently blot away any drops of water immediately and let the bag dry naturally away from a direct source of heat. Don’t place the bag next to a radiator or attempt to dry it with a hair dryer. To speed up the drying process, we advise that you fill the bag with newspaper to absorb the moisture.

Let it Breathe

Keep your bag in a breathable cotton dust bag when it’s not in use. Please note that these care guidelines are for cow leather.   Different instructions may apply when dealing with others types of leather, like suede. That being said, these care tips don’t just apply to leather bags, but to any products made from cow leather, such as leather jackets or even sofas and chairs.
