All over the world, women in business are learning more about the importance of celebrating each other. Meet Helen, Julia, Jessica, Georgina, Kim and Nicole. In celebration of International Women’s Day, they share their thoughts about the power of women in the workplace…
How long have you known Helen?
Over a year and a half.
What were your first impressions of Helen?
She seemed quiet but quietly determined. It was obvious that she really enjoyed music, too, which I related to a lot.
What do you like the most about Helen?
She’s really calm in all situations – a trait I most definitely envy. She is super friendly and positive in the office and she has the time of day for everyone she comes across. She is also super sociable – she’s always one of the first to say yes to staff drinks!
Where do her strengths lie within the Maxwell – Scott team?
Obviously, her creativity is an amazing strength of hers. She has pushed the brand forward greatly since working here in that she has really brought to life some of the projects the team had been planning for years. She’s also incredibly likeable – it would be pretty tough to fall out with her!
If you were to give her one piece of advice, what would it be?
Keep on believing in yourself. Your mid-twenties can be confusing but it’s important to remind yourself about the amazing things you’ve achieved so far. Think about you first, and don’t let anyone get in your way.
How long have you known Kim?
I’ve known Kim for a few months now.
What were your first impressions of Kim?
That she is hard working and really quick to work herself into new tasks.
What do you like the most about Kim?
She is enthusiastic and never shy to present new ideas.
Where do her strengths lie within the Maxwell – Scott team?
She knows the Spanish and Latin American market and fashion scene like nobody else in the house and she knows what does and doesn’t work there.
If you were to give her one piece of advice, what would it be?
Never doubt your own instincts. If you feel like something might work, go for it and try it out.
How long have you known Georgina?I have known Georgina for 2 years now.
What were your first impressions of Georgina?
The first time I met Georgina was when she came in for an interview to support our customer service manager at the time. She was very pleasant and you could immediately see her friendly and calm nature. A trade that is a must in customer service. This is why not just our customers value her as a member of the team.
What do you like the most about Georgina?
I like that she’s always friendly, patient and relaxed. There is (seemingly) never a day where she is having a bad day. Her calm and pleasant nature always shines through.
Where do her strengths lie within the Maxwell – Scott team?
As our customer service manager Georgina is the go-to person for all kinds of issues related to customer service. Her strength is to keep her cool and stay friendly even when confronted with difficult customers and in stressful situations. She’s also a fountain of product knowledge.
If you were to give them one piece of advice, what would it be?
She’s always interested in learning new things but is sometimes hesitant to ask. If I could give her one piece of advice it would be to be more confident to ask questions!
How long have you known Nicole?
About four months.
What were your first impressions of Nicole?
I thought she was really strict and serious, but she’s super sweet and funny!
What do you like the most about Nicole?
She is easy going and really friendly.
Where do her strengths lie within the Maxwell – Scott team?
She’s really good managing customers which I believe is a key element for the company. She’s also great for PR and influencer management, two important abilities which I admire.
If you were to give them one piece of advice, what would it be?
Move closer to the office.
How long have you known Julia?
I’ve known Julia Just under a year – since I started working at Maxwell-Scott.
What were your first impressions of Julia?
When I first met Julia, she came across as someone who was very well organised and not afraid to speak her mind. Just a couple of the many traits that make her a good leader.
What do you like the most about Julia?
She is very easy to talk to. I feel like I can go to her with any problem big or small.
Where do her strengths lie within the Maxwell – Scott team?
She is a great team leader and is constantly working towards improvement in all areas of the company.
If you were to give them one piece of advice, what would it be?
Keep being amazing!
How long have you known Jess?
Since I started working at Maxwell-Scott almost two years ago.
What were your first impressions of Jess?
I thought that she was stylish, creative and friendly.
What do you like best about Jess?
She is incredibly friendly to everybody and very easy to get along with.
Where do her strengths lie within the Maxwell-Scott team?
Jess is a great writer which allows Maxwell-Scott to have amazing content for our customers. She is also happy to help in any area of the business whenever needed.
If you were to give them one piece of advice, what would it be?
Keep being yourself!
