From the things you see to the things you don’t - we’ve made some exceptionally positive changes to our packaging. Your luxury leather keepsakes are neatly packaged and delivered in recycled and recyclable packaging. Our gift cards are made sustainably, and our brochures are printed on premium unbleached paper stock, made from post-consumer waste and certified by FSC®. We’re proud to say that we’ve also found a fully recyclable plastic option for transporting our products safely from our Italian Atelier to the UK. As we plan for the future, we’ll soon be ready to upgrade our wrapping paper to a new stock that is made in the UK and is 100% recycled, carbon-balanced, biodegradable, compostable and uses vegan inks.
As others attempt to cut corners by using quicker methods of vegetable or chemical tanning, we remain true to our roots 20 years later. We’re committed to using only European hides which are a by-product of the meat industry for all of our products, alongside traditional leather crafting and sustainable tanning techniques. Our leather is certified by the Genuine Italian Vegetable-Tanned Leather Consortium and is renowned for its premium quality, resilience, durability and unmistakable aesthetic. Out of over 1,000 tanneries in Italy, less than 1.5% can bear their certificate of quality, often imitated but never matched.
An ode to our commitment to traditional craftsmanship and our high value of sustainable fashion, we proudly offer an industry-leading 25 year warranty with every purchase. We design our Italian leather bags and accessories with a mission to be cherished for a lifetime, and our warranty is our promise of quality to you. For life’s occasional wear and tear, we offer a professional in-house repair service as an alternative to new purchases.
The Maxwell-Scott Head Office has undergone a transformative shift towards becoming more sustainable; from implementing a full recycling system for glass, paper and plastics to using eco-friendly cleaning products. We’ve successfully reduced our air mileage, newly sourcing our very own leather cream from a British beeswax supplier instead of the US in previous years. Any cardboard we use is no longer thrown out - we share it with local beekeepers who repurpose it, turn it into delivery packaging for their products or recycle it and transform it into gift packaging.
At our Yorkshire HQ, turning off the lights and heating when not needed is an innate talent we’re all proud of. We’re conscious not to waste energy, and we have installed electric charging points for employee cars. Over in Tuscany, our Italian Atelier is run entirely on solar panels and all wastewater is recycled.
