A Traditional Form, Reconsidered
Some designs resist reinvention. Indeed, The Scanno belongs firmly in that tradition.
Drawing inspiration from British heritage, this attaché briefcase embodies clarity of form and quiet authority. Its structured silhouette, twin combination locks and disciplined proportions evoke a time when professionals carried documents with intention and presentation mattered deeply. Yet beneath this traditional exterior lies a level of craftsmanship shaped by Italian expertise.
Handcrafted in the heart of Italy from full-grain vegetable-tanned leather, The Scanno represents the meeting of British restraint and Italian refinement, a balance of structure and material that has long defined enduring business design.
Structure With Purpose
Unlike softer briefcases designed to adapt and expand, The Scanno maintains its composure. Its rigid construction ensures documents remain flat and protected, while the box-like frame communicates order before it is even opened.
Beneath the leather exterior lies a solid wooden frame, an unseen foundation that gives the case its weight, presence, and durability. This internal structure is not decorative; it is functional. It ensures longevity, stability, and the confident stance expected of a traditional attaché.
Placed on a table, The Scanno does not collapse or soften. It holds its shape, a subtle but unmistakable detail.
Twin Combination Locks
Security has always been central to the attaché case. Italian craftsmen fit The Scanno with premium Italian-made Cagiva twin combination barrel locks, each with three precision dials and a brushed brass finish.
The designers choose these locks not for ornament, but for reliability. Their presence reflects a professional need for privacy, whether professionals carry contracts, legal documents or sensitive information within it. Appreciated by lawyers, accountants and senior executives, the twin locks reinforce the attaché’s heritage as a case of discretion.
Over time, the brass develops character, complementing the leather’s natural patina.
Our Signature Full-Grain Leather
Italian artisans craft The Scanno from full-grain vegetable-tanned leather and select each hide for both durability and refinement. Vegetable tanning allows the leather to retain its natural characteristics, developing depth of tone and subtle markings with use.
The atelier sources each hide from tanneries certified by the Italian Vegetable-Tanned Leather Consortium, a distinction awarded to only 1.5% of tanneries in Italy. This traditional process avoids chrome tanning, relying instead on natural organic tannins that preserve strength and integrity.
The result is leather that doesn’t simply endure, but evolves.
Considered Interior Organisation
Open The Scanno, and its structure becomes purposeful. An organisation panel offers discreet compartments for pens, business cards and smaller essentials. A dedicated section accommodates a 15” laptop, while additional space allows documents to remain separated and secure.
Artisans line the interior with durable pigskin suede, selected for its durability and fine texture. The soft, cream finish brings clarity and contrast, ensuring contents remain visible and ordered.
This is not excess compartmentalisation; it is measured organisation.
Traditional Carry Handle
The hand-stitched leather carry handle reflects the briefcase’s overall philosophy: strength expressed through refinement. Artisans wrap the handle in full-grain leather and reinforce it with robust metal fittings, ensuring it withstands daily use without drawing attention to itself.
There is no shoulder strap. The Scanno is intended to be carried by hand, a deliberate choice that reinforces its formal character.
Protective Metal Studs
Small details matter. Discreet metal studs are positioned at the base to protect the leather when the case is placed on hard surfaces. They are functional, subtle, and entirely in keeping with the design’s disciplined aesthetic.
A Professional Presence
The Scanno is not designed to follow trends. Its appeal lies in permanence. Favoured by professionals who value structure, from legal practitioners to academics, it reflects a working rhythm rooted in clarity and preparation.
