Maxwell–Scott was born from a vision to produce beautifully designed leather bags and accessories, crafted with the most high quality leather possible. It’s with the generational knowledge and incredible skills of our Italian atelier that allows us to make our vision a reality. From day one, it was important to Will, our founder, that whoever made our products would do so with passion and integrity. That’s where he struck gold with Orazio, when his search for the most esteemed atelier led him to the very family we still work with today.
Orazio started working in the leather industry when he was just thirteen years of age, learning the art that has been honed for centuries. A veteran of the leather industry with over 75 years of experience, his dedication to the craft is something he’s devoted his life to, eventually going on to build and run his own factory and teaching his knowledge to his family.
Blending work and family is something Orazio has mastered perfectly, allowing his family’s raw passion for leather to intrinsically be a part of their lives. Their commitment to the craft runs through their veins, and this very factory symbolises the quality and dedication to the artisanship that we at Maxwell-Scott are committed to.
The atelier has come a long way in its decades of successful production. Although the traditional craftsmanship methods remain, Orazio has created a factory that is proudly carbon neutral. It runs completely on solar panels, respecting efficient manufacturing techniques, successfully bringing family and work together in harmony for years and years to come. In an industry where speed and cost often overshadow quality, we remain devoted to tradition and craftsmanship.
For over 20 years, our products have been meticulously crafted at the same renowned family-run atelier in Italy, under the expert guidance of Orazio. Our values perfectly align with our artisans, there’s an intrinsic love for the craft, the quality of the materials and the positive impact it has on our environment.
