The Duke & Duchess of Cambridge visited the new Prime Minister, Imran Khan, on day two of their tour. The couple were invited for lunch at his residence in Islamabad. Khan, a good friend of the late Princess Diana, reminisced with William about their past meeting in the nineties when he was just a young boy. The royal pair are the first of the monarchy to visit in thirteen years and they expressed that their main mission for the tour was to strengthen the bond between the United Kingdom and Pakistan. As William stated during this meeting, his mother had undertaken three visits to focus on humanitarian work, so, in effect, he would be following in her shoes.

He stated, “For a country so young, Pakistan has endured many hardships, with countless lives lost to terror and hatred. Tonight I want to pay tribute to all those who have endured such sacrifice and helped to build the country that we see today.”

Major sports fans themselves, the royal pair visited the National Cricket Academy where they participated in a spot of batting – the Duchess of Cambridge changed into some white trainers for the occasion as she took to the green for her turn. It seemed like the pair enjoyed letting their hair down slightly with some sporting action. They met children and families also taking part in the day at Lahore and stopped for a quick group photograph with them before their busy schedule meant they had to leave for their next engagement.

5. Their Visit To The Badshahi Mosque

Their trip in Lahore also took them to one of Pakistan’s most iconic places, the Bahshahi Mosque. A truly spectacular building made of sandstone and marble, the royal pair entered the place of worship on a ruby-shaded carpet and witnessed an Interfaith Meeting where they listened to prayer. With respect, the Duchess of Cambridge wore a traditional shalwar kameez for the meeting. This incredibly beautiful mosque bears a courtyard large enough to accommodate over 100,000 worshippers.
