Firstly, follow the lead of street style influencers by donning top-to-toe looks in brown hues. Whether you prefer deep dark chocolates or soft caramels, the streets were awash with a range of tones. The key? Mix textures as well as tone such as leather, teddy bear coats and knitwear. This will elevate your look and ensure added interest in general.

Our signature classic leather in chestnut tan and dark chocolate brown would meld wonderfully with such a street-style inspired look. Though, for those searching for a more daring accessory, the Fiorella mock croc leather purse in tan is perfect. Our signature classic leather is heat-embossed to reveal this timeless finish, just with a little drama.

From the volume of balloon sleeves to the simplicity of tailoring, a more glamorous take on the traditional tailoring trend took to the catwalk this season. In Ralph’s Café on Madison Avenue, Ralph Lauren presented a shoppable SS19 collection steeped in decadence. Bella Hadid’s slinky gold dress was the headline act, however Lauren executed perfect tailoring. In a smart monochrome and gold colour palette, this collection oozed old-school sophistication. This sleek look was reflected in the front row too with models such as Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Karlie Kloss frequenting the café. Kloss in particular wore a stunning powder blue suit that effortlessly married the masculine with the feminine.

Ankle-Grazing Skirts

It also appears that next fall hemlines will be dropping to ankle-grazing lengths. Previously considered an unflattering length, this was the choice of street style influencers and designers alike. Nevertheless, it is important to pair such a skirt with a pair of heels in order to ensure the desired elegance. After all, this length oozes femininity. For a polished evening look, pair an ankle-grazing dress with a pair of velvet heels as seen on the Oscar De La Renta runway and a ladylike handbag. The Rosa classic purse for instance has both a traditional design and refined esthetic – ideal for this feminine trend.

Tibi Founder Amy Smilovic designs clothes to be cherished and kept forever – a sentiment close to our heart at Maxwell-Scott. A warm chunky jumper therefore was understandably present in her collection. It is a classic for us all. This season, Smilovic offered long-over-long sweaters which were worn with pencil skirts and classic knee-high boots for a less literal take on ladylike dressing. Tory Burch featured thick knits too, this time with a more collegiate feel. In fact she paired funnel neck jumpers with check trousers and loafers, inspired by Black Mountain College. This was an incredibly influential liberal arts college which operated from 1933 to 1957 and one of Burch’s obsessions. As such, her collection was eclectic whilst remaining youthful. Whichever way, a thick jumper is a must-have for next fall.
